Sign Post Installation

How to Install Sign Posts

I’ve gotten my signs, now I need to install them. How to I put them on posts?

All of our signs come with pre-drilled holes for easy mounting. The most common sign post is the U-Channel post or the square post. Both posts have holes running top to bottom on them. Usually they are 8 feet tall and buried about 1.5-2 feet in the ground. This gives you ample height to mount the sign.

Signs should be mounted with a minimum of 5 feet (60 inches) from the ground to the bottom edge of the sign. Following this will be sufficient for most parking lots. Road signs are little different depending on the road and local requirements. For now, we will focus on parking signs or similar signs found on property.

Below is an illustration of the mounting height for a R7-8 Accessible Parking Only sign.
